Both are five-passenger Ford SUVs, but the Edge is the larger of the two models with an extra 10 cubic feet of total passenger volume throughout the interior. A handful of new Ford Edge models near Bristol are powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated for 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. That tops the Ford Escape with its 1.5-liter EcoBoost® three-cylinder engine rated for 181 standard horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. The new Ford Edge produces 335 max horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque through a 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine. The new Ford Escape offers double the number of powertrain options and has exclusive hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Ford Escape Hybrid models output 192 total system horsepower through a 2.5-liter iVCT Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder hybrid engine, while the Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid generates 210 total system horsepower through a 2.5-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain.
