The 2018 F-150 offers the most advanced engine choices in the truck’s history, and showcases legendary performance by delivering the model’s best towing capacity ever. A standard 3.3-liter V6 engine is expected to produce 282 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque and features direct injection for better efficiency. The all-new second-generation 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine delivers improved efficiency, output, quality and durability through dual port and direct injection technology. This engine and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine will be both paired to the segment-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission.
A naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that has been tweaked to offer increased power and torque will also be paired with the new 10-speed automatic transmission. There’s also a 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine option, which is the first time a diesel engine has been available for the F-150.
With automatic start/stop included on all trims and engines, the F-150 is the first full-size pickup truck to make this a standard feature. The truck, which is being built at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri, will be delivered to dealerships this fall.
